One night after leaving the Grand Canyon by the east entrance. The Cameron Trading Post has its own motel, so dinner, shop and bed are all a short walk apart, and there’s no driving after dark.

What’s there

  • Rooms in buildings around the trading post, next to the gardens that look over the old 1911 suspension bridge on the Little Colorado.
  • The dining room for a Navajo taco dinner and breakfast next morning.
  • The trading post and gallery to browse in the evening.

Notes

  • This is the Navajo Nation: it observes daylight saving time, the rest of Arizona doesn’t — while DST is on, Cameron is an hour ahead of the Grand Canyon.
  • No alcohol sold or allowed on the Navajo Nation.
  • More in Cameron Trading Post.
